If so, here are the guidelines for our posts:

General Article Guidelines

Length: 600-900 words

Sample Article: This article will help give you a feel for the preferred writing style.

Submissions: All submissions must be uploaded to the monthly series Google Doc one month before the scheduled release. (This doc will be made available to you when you are asked to contribute.)

Attach Bio: One sentence that tells readers who you are and includes links to your personal website, book, podcast, or social media channels. (You only need to do this for your first article)

Social Media: After your post goes live, please share your post at least once on your social media channels.

AI Use: Feel free to use AI to help you brainstorm ideas, but make sure you use it as a tool and not a crutch. Readers want to see your imperfect humanity and not perfected blah. :)

*All articles must be original pieces that have not been posted elsewhere, and will receive one round of edits to ensure the tone and style match previous posts on this site.

Specific Article Guidelines

  • Title
    • Always ask: Why would readers click on this email/online article to read it?
    • Avoid titles like “Truth Is Important,” and use titles like “What My Sixth Grade English Professor Taught Me About Honesty.”
  • Key Verse
    • Use the Christian Standard Version (CSB) for consistency, unless you find another version that better articulates what you believe the text is saying.
    • Limit to 1-3 verses.
  • Section 1 | The Hook
    • Start with a thought-provoking story, question, or idea that captures readers’ attention and makes them want to read the post.
    • Do not include a subheading for this section
  • Section 2 | The Meat
    • Include a thought-provoking subheading
    • Get to the meat and explain why this matters to readers from a Biblical perspective.
    • Avoid common takes and add a thought that isn’t new, but is packaged in a way that will make readers think.
    • Include one key idea that summarizes your message in a sentence and then put that sentence in bold.
    • Include one or two links to a credible online article. All articles must be in link format (like this), and all books must be cited in Chicago-style footnoting (This article shows some examples).
  • Section 3 | The Application
    • How does what you’ve written help readers “turn their Sunday belief into Monday action” and live more like Jesus in their day-to-day lives?
    • What’s one key sentence you want them to remember?
